TL;DR: The Samsung Sero, a 43-inch QLED TV that rotates to fit your content, is on sale as of Sept. 16: Save $300 and get a free $600 Samsung credit to apply toward another purchase.
When contemplating the coolest phones of the late 2000s (something that one does often), the Razr comes to mind. But it's time to put some respect on the LG VX9400's name.
The LG phone that could swivel into landscape mode was ahead of its time — and the trend is making a comeback. Not only does the new LG Wing feel like an unspoken nod to the original twistable phone, but Samsung has brought the concept into a whole new category of tech.
The Sero is a 43-inch QLED TV that rotates between landscape, for the content that we're used to watching horizontally, and portrait, for watching smartphone-shaped content (like TikToks) on the big screen. Just in time for the return of football, you can snag it for a little bit less and then some: Samsung is currently offering $300 off The Sero itself plus a $600 credit with your purchase. That extra money can't be applied to the TV, but it could be put toward a few pairs of the Galaxy Buds Live, a Galaxy Tab S7+, two Galaxy Watch3s, or a number of other combinations for under $600 — all for one payment of $1,699.
The TV that was made for the mobile generation is, unsurprisingly, operated solely via phone: The Sero syncs seamlessly with AirPlay 2 and mirrors whatever you pull up with a quick tap.
The Sero supports Galaxy devices, Android phones through NFC, and Apple devices. For all devices other than Apple, it auto-rotates when it detects content that should be vertical, and will rotate back if you begin to stream Netflix. (Apple owners have to manually rotate the TV, though that provides some sort of satisfaction in itself.)
