Rs 19,499
HIGHLIGHT: Huge battery

The M-series of smartphones from Samsung was introduced to make space for the company in the sub-Rs 15,000 bracket. Over the years, however, the portfolio has expanded.

Samsung's Galaxy M-series' latest addition - the Galaxy M31s - takes the affordable smartphone line-up to a new high, both in terms of price and experience.

Launched at a starting price of Rs 19,499, the first strength of the Galaxy M31s is its battery. It houses a 6000mAh battery, which you will not get in this price range. Even after using the handset for long hours, we were able to get about 2 days worth of juice from the handset before the battery died. The support for 25W fast charging enhances the battery experience.

Another strong suit of the Galaxy M31s is its display. It offers a 6.5-inch full-HD+ resolution (1080 x 2400 pixels) Super AMOLED display that delivers vibrant colours and good sunlight legibility.

The primary 64MP rear camera is being projected as one of the highlights of the Galaxy M31s. On the back, you also get a 12MP ultra wide-angle camera and a 5-megapixel macro and depth sensor each offering f/2.4 aperture. The device boasts of a - Single Take - feature that basically allows users to take multiple pictures and videos. You can then select what you like. Overall, the image quality is impressive as the pictures are rich in colour and sharp.

Samsung Galaxy M31s is powered by the company's own Exynos 9611 processor, which is certainly an older one. However, that didn't translate into any performancerelated issues. Buyers get two RAM options of 6GB and 8GB and both offer 128GB internal storage. In terms of software, the Samsung Galaxy M31s runs One UI 2.1 based on the Android 10 operating system.

The overall build quality of the device too is up to the mark as it feels quite solid and offers a subtle glossy gradient finish in the back panel.

Despite tough competition in the price category, the Samsung Galaxy M31s has a lot going for it.
